We understand the very unique shame that surrounds sexual compulsion, and we respond to that shame – in ourselves and in others – with warmth and compassion.
We acknowledge that the secrets, lies and betrayals of our sexual compulsion have brought agony to the people we love. Promises about the future will not change that. Instead, our loved ones need to see us MOVE – in a new and opposite direction!
We are convinced that connection is the cure! We know that we have to isolate to act out. When we break our isolation and step into community, we break the unhealthy cycles that are driven by our secrecy.
We recognize that the person we will be tomorrow is the person we are becoming today. Therefore, what matters most is where our recovery journey is leading over time, not where we are at any particular moment along the way.
Relapse is not what we desire, nor is relapse unavoidable. Relapse is, however, a common experience for even the most sincere men in recovery. We have over twelve years of success in Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP) practices. If a relapse does occur, we move out of destructive shame and into productive investigation using proven MBRP practices, creating greater resiliency against future challenges.
